Boys Basketball of 2019

Boys show promise with the arrival of basketball season.

Southern Door Senior has remarkable play.

Mr Mallien, Advisor

Excitement is building for another high school boys basketball season here at Southern Door.

Our coaching staff and players expect to remain among the top teams in the area and continue one of
the most impressive streaks in the 49-year history of the Packerland Conference. This year’s varsity team
will be shooting for an unprecedented SIXTH CONSECUTIVE conference championship!

Eight players return from last year’s team that won conference with a record of 15-1 and finished 19-5
overall. The group includes senior Ryan Claflin, juniors Alex Daoust, Nick Baudhuin, Devin Schinktgen,
Marcus Marchant and Nate Everard, and sophomores Nic Pierre and Logan Jeanquart.

Claflin is sure to bring fans out of their seats with more of his high-flying, jaw-dropping slam dunks. The
electrifying 6-foot, 7-inch guard recently received an offer to play Division I college basketball next year
at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Last season, Claflin ranked second on the team in scoring
(15.5 points per game) and first in three-pointers with 41.

Daoust is also a returning starter who has the potential for a breakout season following a strong
summer-league showing and another year of growth and maturity. He averaged 2 assists per game and
twice scored in double figures last season.

The Eagles’ coaching staff includes Coach Claflin (head varsity), Coach Vandenbush (assistant varsity),
Coach Mallien (junior varsity) and Coach Kline (JV2). Coach Claflin is back for a second stint following a
very successful 20-year tenure (1991-2011) in which he led the Eagles to their only state tournament
appearance in 1999.

The Eagles begin practice Nov. 18. They travel to Kaukauna Nov. 23 for a scrimmage and then open the
season Dec. 3 at Denmark.
